Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Lingzhiying Technology Limited collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal data in connection with the device revival bench operated by the firm at Rm 721 7/F Liven Hse, 61-63 King Yip St, Kwun Tong, Hong Kong - 999077, Hong Kong (HK), and in connection with the website at https://www.lingzhitech.buzz. The bench is maintained and operated by the developer Lingzhi Tech on behalf of Lingzhiying Technology Limited. This document is written in plain English and applies to every visitor, customer, trade seller and supplier who interacts with the firm. We ask you to read it in full before you submit personal data, hand over a device or accept a trade-in valuation.
1. Who We Are
Lingzhiying Technology Limited is a company registered in Hong Kong with its bench at Rm 721 7/F Liven Hse, 61-63 King Yip St, Kwun Tong, Hong Kong - 999077, Hong Kong (HK). The firm works within computer systems design and related professional services, and its day to day activity is the revival of tablets, handhelds and dock kits. The developer Lingzhi Tech builds and maintains the website and the internal tools that support the bench.
For the purposes of applicable data protection law, Lingzhiying Technology Limited is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. This means the firm decides why personal data is collected and how it is used. Where the firm uses processors, such as email providers or hosting providers, those processors act only on documented instructions from the firm.
The bench desk can be reached by email at support@lingzhitech.buzz or by telephone at +15075889452. Written correspondence may be sent to the address above. Please mark any data protection correspondence clearly so that it reaches the responsible person without delay.
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy covers personal data collected through the website, through email and telephone contact with the bench, through intake sheets completed at the desk, and through the diagnostic records that the bench creates while a device is being examined. It also covers data collected from suppliers, trade sellers and professional advisers who deal with the firm.
This policy does not cover the practices of third parties whose services are accessed through links on our website. If you follow a link to another website, the privacy notice of that website will apply. We encourage you to read those notices before submitting personal data elsewhere.
This policy is not a contract for services. The terms that govern repair work and trade-in transactions are set out separately in the Terms of Service, which should be read alongside this policy.
3. Personal Data We Collect
We collect only what the bench needs to do its work. The categories below describe the personal data that may be collected, depending on the nature of your interaction with the firm.
Identity and contact data
- Your name, or the name of the person authorised to collect a device on your behalf.
- A telephone number and an email address for correspondence about the bench ticket.
- A postal address where a device must be returned by courier or where an invoice must be sent.
- Company details where you deal with the firm in a trade or business capacity.
Transaction data
- Details of the device submitted, including make, model, serial number and visible condition.
- Intake sheet notes recording the instruction you gave about data handling.
- Scope notes, quotations, approvals and payment records associated with the work.
- Trade-in valuation summaries and the readings that supported the figure.
Communication data
- Messages sent through the contact form on the website, which are delivered through your own mail program.
- Email correspondence, call notes and written follow-ups connected with your ticket.
- Records of complaints, questions and the responses given by the bench.
Technical data
- Basic server logs generated when the website is visited, such as the requested page and the time of the request.
- Device and browser type reported by your browser for the purpose of rendering pages correctly.
4. Device and Diagnostic Data
A device submitted for revival may contain personal data belonging to you or to other people. Our default position is that the bench should touch as little of that data as possible. Where a unit still boots, we may offer to take a verified image before any component is disturbed. That image is created only with your instruction and is stored in a restricted folder that is accessible only to the bench operator handling your ticket.
Our diagnostic checks are designed to run without reading the contents of your files. A charge curve, a battery capacity test, a radio band sweep, a dock seating measurement and a button response test all operate on the hardware rather than on your personal messages, photographs or documents. Where a test would require access to your user data, we will ask for explicit permission first and record the permission on the intake sheet.
If you ask for a device to be wiped before return, the wipe is performed as a separate step and confirmed in writing. If you ask for the device to be returned with its data intact, we will treat that data as yours and will not copy it into any bench record. Diagnostic screenshots are cropped where possible so that personal content is not captured, and any screenshot that does show personal content is deleted once the ticket is closed.
We do not browse the contents of a device for any purpose unrelated to the accepted repair scope. If, during an approved repair, we unavoidably see personal content, we do not record it, share it or use it for any other purpose.
5. How We Collect Data
Most personal data reaches us directly from you. You provide it when you complete the contact form on the website, send an email to the bench, call the desk, complete an intake sheet at the counter or approve a scope note. We prefer direct collection because it lets us confirm accuracy with you at the moment the information is recorded.
Some data is generated by the bench itself. Diagnostic readings, before and after measurements, photographs of the device exterior and notes made by the operator are all created while the work is done. These records exist so that the handover sheet can be honest and so that a repeat visit can begin from evidence rather than from memory.
A limited amount of technical data is generated automatically when you visit the website. We do not combine those logs with identity data unless there is a security investigation or a legal requirement to do so.
Where you provide information about another person, for example a colleague authorised to collect a device, you should make sure that person knows their details have been given to us and understands the purpose. If you cannot do that, please tell us at the counter and we will find another way to record the arrangement.
6. Why We Use Personal Data
We use personal data for a small number of clearly defined purposes. Each purpose is linked to a real task at the bench, and we do not treat a single piece of data as available for any and every future use.
- To open, track and close a bench ticket, including the intake sheet, scope note and handover record.
- To contact you about a device, a quotation, a delay, a collection time or a question raised during the work.
- To produce a trade-in valuation that is supported by readings taken at the bench.
- To keep the accounting and tax records that the firm is required to keep in Hong Kong.
- To answer complaints and improve the way the bench handles similar work in future.
- To protect the firm and its customers against fraud, misuse of the intake process or unsafe devices being returned to circulation.
- To comply with a legal obligation, a court order or a request from a competent authority.
We do not use personal data to make automated decisions that have a legal or significant effect on you. Trade-in valuations involve human judgement supported by measurements, and a seller may always ask to speak with the operator who prepared the figure.
7. Legal Basis for Processing
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following.
Performance of a contract
We process personal data to provide the revival, testing and valuation services you have requested, and to carry out the steps needed before a contract is formed, such as preparing a scope note and a quotation.
Legitimate interests
We process personal data to run and secure the bench, to keep accurate records, to prevent fraud and to improve our services. We balance those interests against your rights and we limit the data used to what the interest actually requires.
Consent
Where we ask for consent, for example to create a data image of a booting device, we will make the request clear and separate from other terms. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting the bench, and withdrawal will not affect work already completed.
Legal obligation
We process personal data where necessary to comply with record keeping, tax, safety or other legal duties that apply to a business in Hong Kong.
10. International Transfers
The bench operates in Hong Kong, and most personal data stays within Hong Kong. Some email or hosting providers may store data in another jurisdiction. Where a transfer outside Hong Kong occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient is bound by confidentiality and security obligations and that the transfer remains connected to a documented purpose.
If you prefer that your data not be transferred outside Hong Kong where the choice is available, please tell the bench at intake. We will explain which services can be arranged locally and which depend on an external provider. We will not refuse a repair solely because you ask this question.
11. How Long We Keep Data
We keep personal data only for as long as the purpose requires. Bench tickets, handover sheets and valuation summaries are kept for a period long enough to support an aftercare query, to resolve a complaint and to meet accounting and tax obligations. The usual retention period is six years from the date of the transaction, after which records are reviewed and securely destroyed.
Device images created with your consent are kept only until the device has been collected and the aftercare window has passed. After that point the image is deleted, unless you have asked for a copy or unless a dispute is open. In the case of an open dispute, the image is kept until the dispute is resolved and any appeal period has ended.
Website server logs held by the hosting provider are kept for a short technical period, typically no longer than ninety days, unless a security incident requires a longer hold. Contact emails are kept as part of the ticket record so that the full exchange is available if a question arises later.
12. How We Protect Personal Data
Security at the bench is treated as an operational discipline rather than a single setting. Paper intake sheets are kept in a locked drawer at the end of each working day. Digital records are held in accounts protected by strong passwords and, where available, two factor authentication. Access is limited to the operator handling the ticket and to the person responsible for the bench.
Devices waiting for work are stored on the culture rack in a monitored room. Devices that hold customer data are not left powered on overnight, and any unit that cannot be safely powered down is isolated. Battery packs are handled in a fireproof tray, because a swollen pack is a safety matter as well as a data matter.
We train the bench team to avoid unnecessary copying of personal data, to avoid discussing a ticket in public areas and to report suspected incidents immediately. If a breach affecting personal data occurs, we will assess the risk, take steps to contain it, and notify affected individuals and any competent authority where the law requires notification.
No method of storage is perfectly secure. We therefore focus on limiting what we hold, keeping it for no longer than necessary and restricting who can see it. If you believe that your data has been mishandled, please contact the bench immediately so that the matter can be investigated.
13. Your Rights and Choices
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to ask for corrections where it is inaccurate, to ask for deletion where we no longer need it, and to ask us to restrict or object to certain uses. You may also ask for a copy of data you provided to us in a structured format where that right applies.
To make a request, contact support@lingzhitech.buzz or call +15075889452. Please describe the request clearly and tell us the bench ticket number if you have one. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity so that we do not disclose data to the wrong person. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, and where a request is complex we will explain the reason for any extension.
You will not be charged for a routine request. Where a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, we may decline it or charge a reasonable fee, and we will explain the reasoning in writing. If you are unhappy with our response, you may raise the matter with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
14. Privacy for Children
The bench serves business and consumer customers, and the website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child without the involvement of a parent or guardian. Where a repair concerns a device used by a child, we ask that the parent or guardian handle the intake and the data instructions.
If you believe that a child has provided personal data to us without appropriate involvement, please contact the bench and we will review the record and delete the data where the law allows. We will also explain what steps were taken and whether any copy remains in an accounting or legal record that we are required to keep.
15. Third Party Services and Links
Our website may contain links to other websites, for example a mapping service used to describe the location of the bench. We do not control those websites and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. A link does not mean that we endorse the content or the data handling of the destination.
Where a third party service is used to support the bench, such as an email provider, we select providers that offer reasonable security and we limit the data shared with them to what the service requires. We review those arrangements from time to time and we will change a provider where the arrangement no longer meets our expectations.
16. Marketing and Communications
We do not run a newsletter, a marketing list or an advertising program. We contact customers about their own tickets, about appointments and about collection times. We may occasionally mention a related bench service where it is directly relevant to the work in hand, but we do not treat an enquiry as permission for unrelated promotional messages.
If we ever introduce an optional update about bench services, it will be offered as a clear choice, separate from the repair terms. You will be able to withdraw at any time by replying to the message or by contacting the desk, and withdrawal will not affect the handling of your repair.
17. Changes to This Policy
We review this policy when the bench changes the way it handles data, when a new service is introduced or when the law changes. The effective date at the top of the page shows the version currently in force. Where a change materially affects how existing personal data is used, we will take reasonable steps to inform affected customers before the change takes effect.
Earlier versions of this policy are kept internally so that a question about a past transaction can be answered accurately. If you would like to know which version applied at the time of your repair, please quote your bench ticket number when you contact us.
18. How to Contact Us
Questions about this policy, requests about personal data and concerns about a privacy matter should be sent to the bench desk. We prefer email because it creates a clear written record, but telephone is equally acceptable for an initial question.
